  • Day 2 in Paris:  I got up yesterday at like 5am.  Jet lag or something.  Day's events started with a trip to the train station to buy a Eurorail pass.  3 offices later and half an hour I finally found the place.  Some kid was taking up one line complaining in French about something...so that left one line for the rest of us.  40 mins later I walked out with a Eurorail pass for 5 days of travel in Italy, France, and Belgium.  Get this...even though you spend several hundred dollars on a eurorail pass you still have to pay like 20-30 dollars to reserve a ticket...I don't get it.  Oh well....I then went back to the hotel and slept till like 8pm.  Still no luggage at this point and I'm having to be creative to not stink.  Got up went to the Eiffel Tower at night....went all the way to the top....then back down cause I had to hurry to get back to my hotel which closed at Midnight.  On the way back I sat and accompanied two young ladies on the metro so this group of guys would stop harrassing and following them.  At my metro stop I got off and ran to the youth hostel....which was locked!!!!  Crap major at this point!  Luckily the guy was passing through the lobby and I was able to get back in.  Met the two guys that were sharing my room:  Ryan a Christian 20 yr old from Cali who is traveling around Europe talking about God everywhere he goes.  Cool guy.  And Adam a 19 yr old from Southern England who is not sure exactly what he thinks about God.  Adam is staying at the hostel again tonight so I'll chat a bit with him, and Ryan is on his way to Italy so there is a chance we may try and meet up and hang out in Rome.  Time will tell...  So yeah...that was my day in a nutshell.

Time to go enjoy day 3....ciao!

  • Nice to meet you too. I hope you're enjoying paris. Vacation? Or some other thing like a missions trip?

  • thanks for the happy birthday hope u get ur luggage soon

  • Have a great time in Belgium ~ the best country in the world, right??  Maybe not, but it's still up there on my list.  Are you gonna at least walk by St. John's?

  • Wow, sounds like an adventure... I discovered the reservation charge on the eurail pass a few summers ago when I did what you're doing... sort of sucks. You don't technically have to, especially on 'intrastate' trains, but it does guarantee one a seat… We also found that reserving sleeper on trains was cheaper than getting a room in most cases… Anyhoo, have fun!
