  • Resolutions

    Ahhh...this year...what do I plan to do????

Well, looking at last year's resolutions I realize that I still need to reach many of them so I've decided to throw the whole resolution thing out the window...sorda.

    I have 2 resolutions....

    1) Have a good year!

    2) Make monthly goals to encourage myself to work at certain areas  but not exactly standards that I nescessarily expect to meet.  That way I can make slow progress through out the year...and even the littlest progress at the end of the year is something noteworthy rather than falling way short....

    Yep...that's about it for me!

  • I gave up on resolutions a long time ago, because I think that if you need to change something in your life then you should get started right away and not prolong it by a while.

  • Kent, I really like your thoughts on the purposes of the judicial/penal process. You're absolutely right... It should exist only for the purpose of protecting society. As much as I hate it, I can see that it's necessary considering the state of our world today. I’m not so idealistic to believe that it should be abolished. I agree with you that victims and family member should not be present when a criminal is put to death... then their punishment becomes nothing more than justified revenge. Just look at the recent hanging of Sadam! Was that punishment or justified revenge? Considering the Shiites hate for him believe it was both. Perhaps I should stop saying "justified revenge", because I really don't believe that any form revenge is really justified. There is justified punishment, but not justified revenge. All revenge is sin and that by engaging it in we lower ourselves to the very level of those that have wronged us.

Good luck on your New Year's resolutions!
